
Special Drive Unit for Twin-Screw Extruders
The SZ/SZL Special Drive Unit for Twin-Screw Extruders tapered twin-screw extruder reducer is a specialized transmission device designed for tapered twin-screw plastic extruders. It consists of a reduction gearbox and a distribution box. Input power is reduced and amplified by the reduction gearbox before being output to the distribution box, which then drives the two tapered screws to rotate synchronously in opposite directions.

Application Scope
Input speed of the reduction gearbox not exceeding 1500 rpm.
The input shaft and motor shaft are connected via a flexible coupling.
Precautions: The reduction gearbox and distribution box are internally equipped with serpentine cooling water pipes, using circulating water cooling. The inlet temperature of the cooling water must not exceed 30°C. The gearbox and distribution box should be installed on a plane at the same horizontal level. When the external spline of the distribution box's long shaft is inserted into the spline hole of the gearbox's output shaft, with the anchor nuts loosened, check the clearance between the bottom surfaces of both gearbox housings and the mounting plane. Make appropriate adjustments if necessary to ensure the coaxiality of the gearbox output shaft and the distribution box's long shaft meets the requirements.
After installation, manually check that all components rotate freely without any jamming.
The coaxiality of the screw and the distribution box's output spline shaft directly affects the lifespan of important components such as gears and bearings in the distribution box. During installation, the spline sleeve should be removed, and a dial indicator should be used to carefully check the radial runout of the spline shaft. A feeler gauge should be used to check the good contact between the end faces of the screw and the distribution box spline shaft to eliminate any errors.
